craft club

I'm back,!
i have been too busy gardening during the nice weather to craft, but back to crafting
again and back to craft club again after having 2 weeks off cause of the bank holidays

I wasn't too happy when i received the pack at craft club last night, loved the papers but wasn't sure
what to do with them, but thanks to my wonderful crafting buddies at club, i came up with 3 cards,
all of which i like

Mums birthady card

Mum's birthday is next week so also made a card for her this weekend (hope she doesn't check my blog before then).

I purchased a new lace die on Saturday at the crafty bunch demo day so i thought i would give that a try.

I covered the card in a pale purple cardstock. i used the V&A Hanoverian range of paper and used the lace die on that, i added some champagne coloured ribbon tied in a knot and added some beige card candy
Very simple but i think very nice as well
what do you think

Tomato Ketchup card

I have been asked to make a tomato ketchup card for somebody at work who has tomato ketchup on everything.
I Wasn't really sure how to do this but thanks to a few ideas from several people,
this is what i came up with

I printed the information about tomato ketchup off wikipedia, distressed using tim holtz pumice stone so it didint look quite so new and white.
I steamed the label off a tomato sauce bottle and printed a picture of a tomato sauce bottle

I think the finished effect is quite good, i hope he likes it, unfortunately his birthday is not for  few weeks so wont get to find out till then

What do you think

Demo day cards

Well, its been a weekend of card making.
It was demo day at crafty bunch on Saturday, Nikki made some lovely things so i have tried to recreate some of them.
I made the book marker card and Tia and i both attempted the
bag thing (sorry don't know what the proper name for it is.

I love this card, i think for many reasons, I'm a big book reader, the papers are lovely and as a cat owner i love the cat image
The image and paper on the book marker are both from the pampered pets range, the backing paper is from my supply of cardstock

These bags/boxes look very complicated to make but are actually quite simple once you know how and thanks to Nicky i now know how to.
Mine is the green one, i used green card and covered it with some of the green paper from the pampered pets range and used some yellow ribbon
Tia has used pink card and used the honey and hugs sheep paper with some pink ribbon, she is giving this to her friend for Easter with chocolate in it

Hope you like them both

Tias's card

Tia and i have had an afternoon of watching TV and making cards, Tia decided to make a birthday card for her little sister ready for May.

She made the card all by herself, she covered the card in papermania pink parfait range of paper, added some glitter fairy wings and found an image of the girl with a teddy bear and coloured it in using promarkers. She backed the girl image and happy birthday sentiment with pink cardstock

I am very proud an impressed with the finished effect, its a shame her sister will only be 2 so wont really appreciate it as it deserves

card for a man

I was asked weeks ago by a friend at work to make a birthday card for her husband, he is a retired psychiatric nurse who enjoys reading and mountain biking.
I think this has been the hardest card for me to do so far, i had no idea what to do until i saw this image of a man on a bike.
Once finding this image it has been on of the easiest cards to make.

I use paperania cardstock in different browns to cover the card and used to back the images and the happy birthday sentiment. The images i printed off the computer and used pumice stone distressing ink to distress the image, arranged it all on the card and added some brown card candy.

Hope they like it.

Tacky flowery card

A friend at work asked me to do a tacky flowery card for them, i found this very difficult to do cause i tend to do cards that i like, well most of the time

I covered the card with pink flowery paper from the honey and hugs range that i was given at Christmas, then placed a dark pink card over the top.
The watering can image is a sticker from the henbury lane range, placed on  scalloped white card, the edges were inked with tim holtz spun sugar distressing inks and ten placed a sticky shimmer dot on each scallop

The butterflies are from the same range

The card did turn out better than i expected, not sure if its what she is looking for.
What do you think, is it tacky enough?

Sunday, 30 January 2011

What a lovely weekend, nice meal out with friends on Friday night, a friend and her 2 children came to visit on Saturday and Sunday afternoon relaxing and making cards.

I love the craftwork cards range of paper, i think its a beautiful range.

I used the pink and white spotty paper to back the card and distressed the white edges of card with Tim Holtz spun sugar distress ink

I used my dotty embossing folder on some plain white card and distressed the dots and edges with the same distress ink

Using Nikki's technique with the ribbon, i used the strands of ribbon over the embossed card and attached the sentiment

I made a flower out of the same pink dotty paper and attached some pink card candy

Oh i do like pink

happy birthday sophie

Tia had a party today, so decided to make the birthday card last week.

I used the Forever Friends Pink Parfait paper, i think this pack of paper is going to be really useful for making cards for little girls

I'm quite happy with the finished effect, i took it into work and got asked to make another one exactly the same for them to give a little girl

birdsong

I love this range of papers

I covered the card with the birdsong paper  and using the big shot machine cut a scalloped circle out.
using the birdsong filigree paper, i found a section i liked and placed it on the back of the cut out circle, then placed a happy birthday sentiment on some contrasting paper

Very plain and simple but i love this card

Well, i spent all of yesterday afternoon crafting, Tia was at her dads so no disruptions or calls of 'can you help me' or 'can i try that'

I had been looking on the docrafts web site for ideas and thought i would try out this technique (i think it was called teabag folding)

The backing flowered paper came free with a magazine and i used the same paper for the tea bag folding

I decided to try the flower that Nicki demonstrated at the demonstration day, so using my new toy i cut 6 of the scalloped circles and distressed them with spun sugar

the ribbon and card were from my collection of things

I'm quite pleased with the finished effect although the bow would have looked better in a slightly different colour and wider ribbon

Another attempt at a birthday card for my aunties birthday as i wasn't happy with the last attempt.

I love this V&A Hanoverian range, its so me.

Using my Christmas present (big shot machine), i cut a scalloped circle in the V&A Hanoverian range of paper to back the happy birthday sentiment and placed a bow of brown ribbon behind it for extra effect after seen it done by Nicki at Crafty Bunch demonstration day

I had seen many of Carries card with flowers on that i liked, so asked how she did them, she told m to use crackles accent, how come mine don't look the same as hrs then, obviously not doing the right thing, i think i need to speak to you again Carrie, but i do quite like the finished effect.

I do like the finished effect of this card, fairly plain and simple, just how i like them, how my Aunty likes it too, I'm sure she will

Quilling

Happy New Year to all

I needed to make a birthday card  but for a very special aunty and wanted to try out a few different techniques

It started with some iris folding using V&A hanoverian papers

I then decided i should have a play with my new toy that i had for Christmas, i had some x cut quilling dies so decided to make some flowers using the same paper

The flowers were much harder to do than i thought they would be but I'm quite happy with the end result

I like both techniques but not sure they both go together on the same card but i really enjoyed trying both
